The final countdown
To keep my promess, I get back on a bus and hitchhike up to the point of the dirt road my tire exploded twice, where I had to give up two weeks ago.
This time I have no time pressure, my bike is in super good conditions, I ride easily the very last part of South [...]

Crossing Panama
I am now in a hurry. Franck-Olivier will arrive in Panama City airport tomorrow evening. I still have to cross… the continent!
Hopefully this part is quite short… 120kms. However the first 50kms is VERY hard. The road goes up to 500m high passing through dirt road, a river with no bridge, and steep, very steep [...]

Cartagena, a port for the Caribbean Sea
Cartagena.
Sam is there, good Sam! He made his mind up for riding the northern Columbian coast and then will be looking for a sailing boat to get to Panama, as well as what I am now doing.
No road going from South America to Central America, that’s my trouble. The so-called “Panamericana road” stops before the [...]

South America final victory
Focused on the purpose of finishing the biking way and get some rest, I push hard my limits. The two last days see me flying, 130 and 160kms, not so flat, and hard front wind near the end.

Medellin
Going up and down and again and again and I get to Medellin.
Sam is there, completely sick! White, absolutely no energy, I bring him back to my Couchsurfing’s host Ana. She will take care of him as if he was her brother.
Couchsurfing is such a good invention!

Samuel, the American cyclist
Popayan, Christmas day.
It’s late afternoon when I get out of the cybercafé. I was talking with my family back home.
My brother just came back from two years in Australia, they are altogether for Christmas, and I wanted to be part of them through the Internet connection for this special day.

Anautica
The road from Pasto to Popayan is a never-ending going up and down.
One day, while I am in the middle of a huge slope attacking once more the mountains, sweating and dying every minute, I see a big truck passing me by.

Christmas songs in Columbia
Christmas time approaches.
This means here in South America a major event, because of the high influence of the christianism.
I go to see what an office looks like, but I am revolted.
The priest basically treats the people like they would be children. “Jesus is good, follow Jesus, understand? Now sing with us!” the priest means, with [...]

Colombia
Here I am Colombia!
The name only of this country scares a good part of my people in France. Everybody think this is a dangerous place where you will get kidnapped or killed for sure.
Well, this is not!
People are the friendliest I have seen in South America with Chilean and Brazilian people.

The middle of the world
Here in the country, all is about the Equator line.
Ecuador is VERY proud to be the “Mitad del Mundo” (middle of the world). I am also quite impressed to pass the Equator line on my bike.
So when I get there, a few different monuments shows the Line, and I take my paraglide out. This is [...]
