Samuel, the American cyclist
Popayan, Christmas day.
It’s late afternoon when I get out of the cybercafé. I was talking with my family back home.
My brother just came back from two years in Australia, they are altogether for Christmas, and I wanted to be part of them through the Internet connection for this special day.

Anautica
The road from Pasto to Popayan is a never-ending going up and down.
One day, while I am in the middle of a huge slope attacking once more the mountains, sweating and dying every minute, I see a big truck passing me by.

Christmas songs in Columbia
Christmas time approaches.
This means here in South America a major event, because of the high influence of the christianism.
I go to see what an office looks like, but I am revolted.
The priest basically treats the people like they would be children. “Jesus is good, follow Jesus, understand? Now sing with us!” the priest means, with [...]

Colombia
Here I am Colombia!
The name only of this country scares a good part of my people in France. Everybody think this is a dangerous place where you will get kidnapped or killed for sure.
Well, this is not!
People are the friendliest I have seen in South America with Chilean and Brazilian people.

The middle of the world
Here in the country, all is about the Equator line.
Ecuador is VERY proud to be the “Mitad del Mundo” (middle of the world). I am also quite impressed to pass the Equator line on my bike.
So when I get there, a few different monuments shows the Line, and I take my paraglide out. This is [...]

Ecuador and fresh asphalt
We quit both Peru and the desert suddenly.
From the arid landscape made of stones and sand, we see only green trees and farms all around. What a surprising change!

Various cyclists
On our way up to the Ecuadorian boarder, we meet various cyclists.
Mark Beaumont, UK, is an ex record man for world tour on bicycle (6 months and a half, 30.000kms and passing by two antipodeans points), currently riding for another record: climbing Mt Kingsley and Mt Aconcagua in the same season and going from one [...]

Trujillo
From Lima to Trujillo, there must be something like 550kms. I will ride alone, lightweight, in 3 days and a half, meaning quite fast, Nadège, tired, will take the bus.

Nazca lines and mysteries
Nazca is world wildly known for its archaeological lines strangely drawn in the desert. Thousands of line and figures have transformed the whole area as a huge canvas, drawings seen only from mountains around or from a plane. How people not knowing about flying got the idea to draw such mysterious signs?
