  • Sailing Fakarava – Tahiti

36 hours to cross the 300 miles between Tahiti and the paradise… oups, Fakarava. Good wind, 20 knots, backward, easy ride then for us.
Anxiety of the captain becomes harsh and we, crew, feel quite bad in this context. I am really wishing to find another boat in Tahiti to leave Tago Mago as soon as [...]

    Fakarava

Nine days in Fakarava. That wasn’t much but still it was intense!
There is a scuba dive center on the atoll, Te Ava Nui. It’s quite the specialty here. Local tourism is based on it anyway.
Quite sensible to the idea of a world tour on a bike, Jean Christophe offers me a very good deal. To [...]

    Crossing Marquesas – Tuamotu

We leave on the 13th of May Nuku Hiva Islands in the Marquesas, heading to the archipelago of the Tuamotu.
For that time we are only four on board. We adapt the night watching, and this is the opportunity for the others to listen a little bit more about what I have to say about it [...]

Marquesas Islands – A wild paradise

I dedicate this text to the Marquise des Ecrins.
Marquesas Islands are high islands contrasting with the lagoons more commonly met in the Tuamotu for example. ‘High’ means relatively recent volcanic activity and sharps landscapes chiseled by means of the Nature.
First Tago Mago has reached Iva Oa Island. Next to 19 days off shore I feel [...]

    The Great Crossing

    Day 1
Once more the anchor’s chain is lifted up, engine running to get us out of the Puerto Ayura’ harbor, we are leaving Galapagos on Tago Mago.
It’s 5pm, temperature is about 29°C, as well as the sea water, hygrometry is 80%, and… who cares? We are not in a plane, but on a boat…

    Galapagos Islands

Galapagos will be a concentrate of good news. The very first night, my computer gets fixed; I find a job as bike guide and also a school to give a conference.
The deal for the job is basic: I find some tourists and the agency furnishes the bikes and logistic, I would get paid by number [...]

    Cruising Panama to Galapagos

    30th. March 6:30am – it’s time.
Engine runs, anchor is lifted up, covered of smelly mud, Jsea’s propeller pushes us through the Pacific water. We turn our back to Panama, America, and leave right toward the great Blue.

    Looking for a sailboat

My stay here in Panama is all about finding a sailboat to hitchhike with to New Zealand.
I arrived on time for this, even earlier than required as sailboats leave current March-April to Galapagos – French Polynesia – Fiji – New Zealand or Australia. It’s always better arriving earlier than later anyway.

    Panama with a friend

Lifestyle changes completely with Franck-Olivier (FO).
As he is not fond of camping overnight in strange places and cooking noodles on a small petrol stove for every meal, he offers me a more comfortable way for enjoying Panama for the 10 days we will travel together. Hotels, restaurants, taxis are quite unusual for me.
    I will therefore [...]

Cruising the Caribbean Sea from Cartagena to Panama

16th. January 2010, we set off for Panama through the Caribbean Sea.
On board are our captains Marc and Maxime, 22yo and fearing nothing. They were both slowly killing their life in the damp of the Parisian ghettos and after some bad games with the society, they made their mind up to buy a cheap sailing [...]
